Once upon a time, there were tops, then tops changed to ‘the tied top’ and by 1970, there was an explosion of crop tops galore. This was an incredibly fast trend in the fashion world and I don't see it fading out any time soon. Whether its a shirt, a denim jacket, a blazer or even a corporate shirt. The “crop” theme is here to stay. This is evident as it can be applied to almost any material type. I mean, as of now we’re also cropping male clothes and i must add how amazing pieces are still created following the “crop” theme. Celebrities such as Actress/Singer, Barbara Eden and Jane Birkin were responsible for even a larger outburst of the style and is still being well worn by celebrities.

Couple years back till now, celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Gigi hadid and the rest of the model squad rock this versatile piece whether with an oversized blazer and straight cut pants or with a mini skirt, either way, it just works! An article I read on Vogue titled “The Crop Tops Grows Up! The Fashion Evolution of the Teeny-Tiny Look” by Marjon Carlos believes the notion that these tiny tops just keep changing in style. Going further, crop tops has gone from Jane Birkin to Leomie Anderson, another supermodel, and this proves its relevance from the past generation to the present.

Though, these little pieces are seen be too revealing or “too sexy” which is easily disapproved by older folk, this piece of clothing is still able to combat these worries as they can be work layered or with some high waisted jeans too. It is so versatile jacket can be worn to cover up your conscious parts or a thick or thin layer worn beneath. We see crop tops every other day styled differently, and my question is still, why would anyone want it ?

It took over the fashion industry quick and many high end brands have embellished it to fit their look.

I believe crop tops are an important indicator to fashion in the future simply because of its versatility. The general idea of it is that it halves a piece of clothing. And so with that, i can say even if crop tops fade out of fashion, i don't see cropped jeans or cropped denim jackets fading out especially because its target market is teenagers who love fast fashion and it's the perfect spring weather throw on jacket. Another reason why I see this in the future of fashion is because crop tops are now also being worn business casual. Many companies of recent are more flexible with their workers being expressive with their style and this will be a continuous trend as it does not affect the workers efficiency in anyway, gives more reason for it to stay.There are just so many ways to effortlessly pull it off, it could be to run to the grocery store, go for a jog, or style your cropped piece up to a party, the crop tops are a staple wardrobe piece.
